ODIHR Training for human rights defenders at international borders, 14-18 November, Poland, deadline 11 Sept

Call for applications for a training​​ organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.

Human rights principles, monitoring, safety and security for human rights defenders working at international borders in Central and Eastern Europe

The training takes place on 14-18 November 2022 in Poland (within 1-hour drive from Warsaw). 

Application deadline: 11 September 2022.

The applicants need to be based in: Austria, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russian Federation, Romania, Slovakia or Ukraine​

23 applicants will be chosen in a competitive selection procedure. The costs of training materials, travel and full board accommodation will be covered by ODIHR.

The 5-day training will cover the following topics:

  • Human rights principles at international borders
  • Human rights monitoring and advocacy strategies
  • Screening and interviewing, detention and return
  • Personal safety and security of human rights defenders, including criminalization of human rights defenders
  • Digital safety and security
