First Annual CharterXchange,
organised by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) in collaboration with the European Commission. The event is scheduled to take place online from 11 to 13 December 2023, between 10:00 and 12:30 CET.

The CharterXchange is a unique forum for legal practitioners and relevant stakeholders to explore current and potential applications of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and its pivotal role in driving positive changes for people’s rights. It will convene annually each December.
The 2023 CharterXchange will offer interactive sessions tailored to officials from national authorities, parliaments, members of the judiciary and academia. There will be dedicated sessions for Charter focal points, law students, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, equality bodies, as well as civil servants from EU candidate countries. High-level experts and legal practitioners from across Europe will participate as discussants and presenters.
Sessions tailored to legal practitioners include:
- The EU Charter in the Courtroom: Dialogue with Judges.
- Explore the application and impact of the EU Charter in legal proceedings, via a dialogue between legal professionals and judges to enhance understanding and implementation within the courtroom.
- Participants will discuss practical aspects and challenges related to incorporating the EU Charter into judicial decision-making.

- The Charter and strategic litigation: learning from practice

- Gain practical tips and tools for strategic litigation of the Charter in the national judicial system.
- Presentation of the handbook ‘Relying on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights for Human Rights Litigation’, developed by LIBERTIES.

- Learning lab on EU Charter training tools.
